On the first weekend of December, the first-ever Munich Knits will take place. There'll be a marketplace and lots of workshops where you can learn about knitting and crochet from teachers from all over Europe. Classes will be held in German or English.

One of those teachers is Meret Bützberger, the queen of double knitting. Her workshop “Die Magie des Doppelstrickens” will be held twice and both times are already sold out! But you can still join the waiting list.

In her class, Meret will teach double knitting for flat and circular projects, how to cast on and bind off, and how to correctly read a chart.

Meret has been designing and selling her patterns on Ravelry since 2013, and many of them are double-knit. In addition to cowls, hats, and shawls, you can also check out her beautiful Winter Wedding Coat pattern, a stunning piece that combines double knitting with stranded colorwork. She'll have a booth at Munich Knits where you can meet her and get her beautiful patterns.

If you want to learn more about double knitting, check out the Butzeria website and keep your eyes open for upcoming yarn festivals around Europe. Rumor has it that Meret will be teaching more in the near future.

Meret is not only a great designer and teacher, but she is also the co-founder and co-organizer of the Swiss Yarn Festival. The next edition will be held in April 2024. If you're curious to learn more, make sure to check out our article about the last edition.
