Have you ever felt clouds with a touch of baby hair on your hands? No? So you should try touching the new Elements yarn by Novelaria.
Elements baby alpaca is an exclusive collection that comes in a bundle of five mini skeins with different colors, and they are inspired by the four elements of nature: fire, air, water, and earth. They are all hand dyed by VM Feito à Mão, a Brazilian indie dyer.
Each skein has 20g and approximately 39 yds (36 m) and is made of 100% baby alpaca. We highly recommend doing so if you've never tried alpaca yarn yet. Alpaca is a type of camelid, just like llamas, but they have finer hair, resulting in a softer yarn. Despite the delicate feel, it is a strong and warm fiber.
Elements baby alpaca yarn is DK weight, so it's versatile and works great for a little knitted scarf like Sophie Scarf by PetiteKnit, or you can also use two bundles and make a lovely crochet shawl like the Simple Shawl by Alimaravillas. Another perfect project is a nice and cozy beanie. We suggest Dusk Beanie, designed by Paula Leme.
After you choose the project you want to make, we recommend going up one needle size for a more drapey effect since alpaca yarn usually has a fuzziness that can be enhanced by doing so.
When knitting or crocheting with it, you'll feel its softness. It slides like butter on your needles or hook. I've never handled with such a soft yarn like this baby alpaca. All four hues work great together, so deciding which color combo to take home isn't easy.
You can find them exclusively at Novelaria's stores in São Paulo or their online shop.
