STEPHEN WEST SSAL: CONTRAST BLAST SOCKS

Being a huge Stephen West fan and an admitted sock-knitting addict, when I caught wind of his first SSAL – Secret Sock-A-Long – coming up this July, I went completely nuts and roped my loyal friends into joining me on this adventure. It was the perfect chaos injection I needed to rev up for the 2023 MKAL.

The anticipation of receiving clues, picking yarn and colors, and seeing others' choices fueled my knitting soul. But, as always, it wasn't all fun and games. I decided to knit these for my husband, and as they took shape, I realized they weren't a fit for his super-sensitive princely feet.

This pattern boasts loads of texture, braids, and a fantastic mosaic technique. While I'm perfectly capable of tackling intricate sock patterns, socks are, to me, all about coziness. So, most of the time, I stick to simple vanilla socks due to my inner laziness. But with over 3 thousand projects of these darlings registered on Ravelry, it's safe to say the first edition of this event was an absolute blast!

My socks underwent quite a few changes, but I ended up completely satisfied with the results. Can't wait for our 2023 MKAL next month!
