TOUR DE FLEECE IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!

Updated: Dec 11, 2023

Spinners worldwide are getting ready for the largest spinning event of the year: Tour de Fleece. The tour is held every year during Tour de France, the cycling competition. The spinning part, however, is not a competition at all. It’s all about fun and trying new things.

The official place for everything TdF (which is the universally used acronym) is the Raverly group. You can find and join it here. Apart from Ravelry, you can follow the hashtags #tourdefleece2023 or #tdf2023 on Instagram.

Tour de Fleece

This year, the tour starts on July 1st and runs through July 23rd. Just like the actual Tour de France, there are rest and challenge days. You can join a multitude of teams and spin together with your friends. Or just spin along on your own.

Many fiber dyers provide sale coupons before and during the tour so you can stock up on your favorite fiber and not run out. Spinning teachers (like me) upload many tutorials during this time of the year, and the fiberverse is filled with spinning-related content.

For everyone who wants to extend the fun, a smaller TdF has been added to the long one. It’s called “Tour de Fleece Femmes” and runs from the 23rd of July through the 30th, just like the women’s bicycle race.

As I go by “The PassioKnit Spinner,” you can probably guess I’ve been active in TdF for many years. It will be my 13th tour this year, and I look forward to those few weeks every single year.
